Have you actually looked at the Service Manual? You "automatically assumed"? If only it were that easy. It will fit the socket but your laptop will not POST with that processor in it because it is not compatible.

The T9400 dual core is the best processor that will fit on any G60 motherboard and that is the GM45 motherboards. No G60 can take that processor. And you have the GL40 which is a chipset designed for defeatured laptops using bargain processors.

You have to consider the socket, the chipset and then the limits the OEM manufacturer has imposed with its design.

Honestly, not worth the upgrade. The motherboard can only support Celeron and Pentium (not Core 2 Duo) processors so it is a question of horribly obsolete or just awfully obsolete.

Thanks for the help because i was going to get a "Intel Core 2 Extreme x9100 SLB48" because other resourses stated it will fit into a P Socket and I automatically assumed it would be good to upgrade the cpui have for that one. Another question. Is it bad to upgrade my current cpu to the "Intel Core 2 Extreme x9100 SLB48" because it wouldnt fit, or is it because my pc cant adjust to those specs?

Thanks for the help now I ahve a better inside on this subject. And if the "T9400 dual core" processor is the best one that will actually is compatibly with my PC, is it still a good idea to consider upgrading to this processor? Thank you again.

I guess I am struggling to be clear here. The T9400 will work only on other models of the G60 that have a different motherboard. Your model has the motherboard used for lower priced units that is only compatible with Celeron and Pentium CPUs. The motherboard you have does not support some of the advanced features of the Core 2 Duo processors like the t9400. We have had a few users say they got a Core 2 Duo to work on your motherboard but I think they did not have power management, speedstepping and other features working. Still the system would likely boot with a T9400 but those T9xxx processors are still fairly pricey and I would hate to see you risk the investment when I cannot assure you it will be OK.

So your saying there isnt any worthy cpu upgrades available for my PC? Or if there is any available CPU upgrades for my PC can you list them. Thanks You.

Nothing that would be worth the effort.
