Motherboard Keyboard Connector

HP Notebook 15-f305dx .................I switched out motherboards...went from  AMD A6-5400 ( DAOU93MB6D2 Rev D ) to an AMD A8-6410 ( DAOU99MB6CO Rev C ) .  Everything seems idential except for keyboard connector.  My current keyboard is one from the AMD A6-5400 (  Model No R65 )

The keyboard connector on the AMD A8-6410 appears different.  Does the black or ivory part of connector flip up to faciliatate slipping in the ribbon cable.  I dont want to force anything and have possibility of breaking connector.  Or do I need another laptop keyboard. ?

Any light one can shed on this matter is greatly appreciated.

Upgrading to a system board that requires a different display wouldn't seem to be the best option.

You probably haven't reached the step where you try to connect the display. It also won't fit.

The HP keyboard that fits is a different part number.

It should be 776778-001.

Thank you for your reply but this board does power up my display just fine.  The connection of the display and motherboard is just fine.  It just seems that the keyboard connector is different.  

The keyboard you suggested, part # 776778-001 and my keyboard  #708168-001 are interchangeable.

Can you tell me how it is inserted into this keyboard connector ?  It appears that the black or the ivory part of this connector flips up to insert ribbon cable.  I don't want to force anything.  It could be wrong thou.   

All other connectors  ( power button, touch pad, hard drive, and CD ) are fine and ribbon cables were inseted fine with no problem.

Any additional help with be greatly appreciated.

The white part slides up and you slip the ribbon cable underneath and then slide the white part down to cinch it in place. Use a wide plastic pry tool to apply pressure where the white part meets the black part and gently but firmly slide it away. Don't push too hard as you will pop the white slider part out. It can be put back but its a bit of a chore.

The ivory part of this keyboard connector flips up, then one inserts the ribbon cable into the black open slot of the connector, then one flips down the ivory part to cinch cable in.

Keyboard is now functional.......i just didnt want to force anything with the possibility of breaking connector.
