The motherboard on my computer is shot. (I know this for sure as I've already had a shop look at it) The computer itself is over 2 years old, so the warranty's expired, but I've been told parts like the motherboard sometimes have a separate warranty that could be either lifetime, or at least 3 years? Is this true, & if so, how can I check if mine has one? & if not, what would be my most cost-efficient route to replace it?

No, all in one piece with 1 year warranty. I believe some countries have 2 years by regulations/laws.
Regards.
