I bought my pavilion 14 in November 2019 and it has been great the past year and a half. However two nights ago I tried to boot it up and nothing was happening apart from the power button flashing once, the laptop still charges but just doesn’t boot. I took it to get looked at and they said this was a motherboard problem which will cost a lot to fix. I am seriously disappointed as I’m a student who spent a lot of money on this laptop and this should not happen to such a new laptop.
has anyone else had this problem?/solutions?

The phrase "motherboard problem" is so vague as to be all but useless -- if they really KNOW what the problem is, they should be able to tell you with more specificity than that. It's like my car dealer telling me it has an "engine problem".
Replacing motherboards, in the rare cases that is even possible, is very expensive -- and generally not worth the cost since you can generally buy and newer laptop for the same money or less.
