My pavilion dv5 1220et has Quanta 3603 motherboard and I wonder if it supports m2 ssd and which type? I am trying to upgrade my old laptop for the best performance possible. I am waiting for your recommendations. Thanks a lot in advance.

Your machine is around 9 or 10 years old now. It does not have M.2 slot for storage. You can replace its HDD with 2.5" SATA SSD using
https://www.crucial.com/products/ssd/crucial-mx500-ssd
https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/product/consumer/860evo/
Or similar from reputable vendors.
Regards.
