Hi,
My laptop won't boot. At all. The caps lock LED error code relates to a Bios issue. I've been advised by a company that its a new motherboard. The company is unable to source parts that I require.
Please can you advise which motherboard I can use for this device.
Also are there any there a compatible motherboard optione that will alow me to upgrade beyond an i7 processor and 32GB ram?
A motherboard that would allow for 64GB ddr4 perhaps?
Thanks

This is the motherboard
NVIDIA N17E-G2 (GeForce GTX 1070), 8 GB i7-8750H L11136-601
You have the very top end motherboard for that series of Omen laptops. Nothing better can be installed. Laptop motherboards are not industry standard, interchangeable they are designed to fit a specific package. The motherboard will be expensive because it includes the processor and graphics system:
HP will no longer have this in stock.
As you appear to know, you can install up to 32 gigs DDR4-2666 SO-DIMM which will bridge or downclock to -2400 speed on the 7th gen Intel Core processor.
Its still a pretty good laptop and perhaps worth the cost of a replacement motherboard. A better new one would cost like $2000 US. The only possible cheaper option would be to send it to a high end shop who can rework the motherboard at the chip level. I have had good success with this for family and friends. Costs maybe equal to about $200 US. Let me know if you want to pursue that.
Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

Huffer,
Thank you very much for your consice and helpfull response.
It was proving very difficult to find the specific motherboard infi for this laptop. Thanks for clarifying that these boards are laptop specific and can't be upgraded.
Your right. The laptop isn't too bad at all, and the price of a new motherboard... even though it will contain a new processor and graphics card... and is more expensive than I'd expect, it's far cheaper than a laptop of similar or better spec. It's well worth buying a replacement for the price.
You also mentioned the possibility of sending the laptop off to a high end repare shop. I'd be happy to try this, first. Any information on keywords or searches, so I know what I'm looking for, would be very helpful.
Thanks again.
