Its exactly the same as the motherboard you have other than the processor. There is an M.2 slot on the backside of the motherboard but for SATA only.
You can see the M.2 SSD under the wireless card on p. 79 of the Manual. It's just a bit too old for NVME compatibility.

This is the motherboard installed at the factory:
System board Intel Dual Core i7-4510U (2.0–GHz, SC turbo up to 3.1–GHz), processor
(1600MHz/4 MB L3, 15W) discrete memory, and the Windows 8 Standard operating system
for HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC computer models
763721-501
That is the second best that would fit in your machine. The only better one would be this:
Intel Quad Core HM87 i7-4710HQ (2.50 GHz SC turbo up to 3.50 GHz) processor (1600-
MHz, 6.0 MB L3 cache, 47 W) UMA memory, and the Windows 8 Standard operating
system

HP will no longer carry these. You have to find a replacement in the secondary market. Because the processor is part of the board these tend to be expensive. You need to search by HP Part number. Laptop motherboards are specific to the model so you cannot install anything from a newer processor generation. You are stuck in time with what was offered when the laptop was made.
