Hi @Anton119

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm really sorry you're dealing with this—it’s incredibly annoying when your mouse pointer starts jumping around instead of gliding smoothly.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help restore that smooth control you expect.

1. Clean the Mouse Sensor

Dust or smudges on the sensor can cause erratic movement:

  • Turn the mouse over and gently clean the sensor area with a soft cloth or cotton swab.
  • Avoid using liquids—just a dry or slightly damp cloth is enough.

2. Check the Surface

Reflective or uneven surfaces can confuse the sensor:

  • Use a proper mouse pad or switch to a matte, non-glossy surface.
  • Avoid glass, shiny wood, or patterned surfaces.

3. Replace or Recharge Batteries (if wireless)

Low battery power can cause lag or jumps:

  • Try fresh batteries or recharge the mouse fully.

4. Update or Reinstall Drivers

Corrupted or outdated drivers can affect performance:

  • Go to Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Right-click your mouse > Update driver.
  • Or uninstall and restart your PC to reinstall automatically.

5. Try a Different USB Port

If you're using a wired mouse or a USB receiver:

  • Plug it into another USB port.
  • Avoid using USB hubs—connect directly to the PC.

6. Test on Another Device

Try the mouse on a different computer. If the issue persists, it may be a hardware fault.

You're doing the right thing by seeking a fix—let’s get that pointer gliding again.
