Hi @BVI22,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that your mouse is not working despite changing the batteries, here are some steps to troubleshoot the problem:

Check the Power:

  • Ensure that the batteries are inserted correctly and that the battery compartment is clean.
  • Make sure the power switch on the mouse, if present, is turned on.

Reconnect the Mouse:

  • For wireless mice, re-establish the Bluetooth or USB receiver connection. Try unplugging and plugging in the USB receiver (dongle) or reconnecting it via Bluetooth.

Test on Another Device:

  • Try using the mouse on another computer to determine if the issue is with the mouse or the original computer.

Update Drivers:

  • Check the Device Manager on your computer for any errors with "Mice and other pointing devices."
  • Update the mouse driver by right-clicking on the mouse in Device Manager and selecting "Update driver."

Run UEFI Test:

  • Power Off the Computer: Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  • Access UEFI Diagnostics:
  • Turn on the computer and immediately press the esc key repeatedly (around once every second).
  • When the menu displays, press the f2 key to enter the UEFI diagnostics.
  • Run Component Tests:
  • On the Main Menu, click on Component Tests.
  • Select Mouse/Touchpad from the list, choose the test you wish to run, and then click Run once.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the test.

Take care and have an amazing day!
