  • I was playing a game(scp containment breach) on my Hp laptop 15-ra0xx, when the game froze, I couldn't shut down the computer normally because i couldn't access the windows start menu so I had to resort to pressing down and holding the power button. When I booted my pc back up the mousepad wasn't working, Moving the mouse with my graphics tablet worked. I tried double tapping the top left corner and that didn't work, I attempted updating the drivers using the official hp site and that didn't work either. I went through a bunch of threads and one said dome thing about updating the bios, I tried that, and it told me the bios update I'd blocked on my pc. I even went to mouse properties to find out that my pc doesn't even detect the mousepad. I rebooted the pc, tried again to update the bios and got the same result, uninstalled and installed a older version of the driver, and it still didn't work. Are there any other possible solutions to this problem I'm having?

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the touchpad is not working on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Have you tested with a wired mouse?

What is the operating system you are using?

Meanwhile, I recommend uninstalling the touchpad driver from the device manager and then download and install the driver from the below link.

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

Here is how it is done.

  1. Type "Device Manager" into the search field to open the device manager console.
  2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
  3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
  4. When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.

NOTE: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.

If you continue facing the issue, then run a test on the touchpad to make sure that it is not a hardware issue.

Follow the steps in the below article to run the test.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Ok so this kind of worked, but indirectly... I couldn't see it in device manager so I restarted my pc a few times then it appeared as unknown device and I was able to install the drivers from there. Thanks a lot!
