Hi there,
I am moving soon from Germany to Japan with my HP Victus Notebook, bought here in Germany, factory warranty still running to June 2025. I have read the posting of Paul Tikkonnen on 02-09-2024, 07:01 pm, which told me, that only inside Japan bought HP Hardware is accepted for repairing by HP Japan within the global warranty. Can anybody else confirm this statement?
Second question - before some "background" words for better understanding my question - HP Germany offered to me a care pack for 2 years - thus prolonging my warranty time until 2027 - but it's only possible for the national area of Germany. This type of care pack is not senseful for me. Therefore my second question: has anybody bought in Japan a care pack for a HP notebook NOT bought inside Japan successfully? Sorry for my personal view - but I'm not sure so far whether HP is really an international "player" or only a national of local trader - this type of small business companies do that in this way - I do not understand why HP cannot accept their own machines in any countries around the world if they need support in the future..
Thanks a lot for any facts about this matter.

@platon5198, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding global warranty issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I completely understand your concern about warranty coverage while moving to Japan. Let me clarify how HP’s global warranty works.
HP standard factory warranty is usually valid worldwide, but local service centers may have restrictions based on regional policies, parts availability, and specific service agreements. In Japan, HP typically provides warranty service only for devices originally purchased there. This means your HP Victus, bought in Germany, may not be eligible for warranty repairs at HP Japan.
Regarding care packs, they are region-specific and tied to the country of purchase. Unfortunately, a care pack bought in Germany wouldn’t extend coverage in Japan.
I know it’s frustrating when global brands have regional limitations, but this is mainly due to logistical reasons and service agreements. I’d recommend reaching out to HP Japan’s support for the latest options.
Safe travels, and I hope this helps! 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hello Zoey,
sorry for my late reply - a lot of work has to be done in order to move from Germany to Japan. Therefore this late reply. I also want to say "thank you very much" for your answer. Although there is no satisfying result possible in my case. I think my idea of a worldwide help service of HP for moving customers - e. g. from Germany to Japan - would be a good idea for a certain area of help service, connected with hardware running within the first guarantee. I have got from HP Germany an advice, that my guarantee period will end in this summer - therefore I started my search for a 2-years warranty extension, offered by HP here in Germany. You wrote this ...
Citation: "I know it’s frustrating when global brands have regional limitations, but this is mainly due to logistical reasons and service agreements."
Working a long time at a IT-department I know: no company can maintain all types and models of a notebook series a long time - too much storage and producing costs make this impossible. But my notebook is not "old" - therefore I believe that spare parts should be available inside the HP storage system. I do not know wether there is a more significant difference of the build in hardware for my notebook, bought in Germany, with the same model bought in Japan. If there is really a significant difference - I would be a little bit surprised, because this looks for me too much diversification in production - connected with more production costs. If so, my opinion would be: something running not perfect in HP producing systems.
Ok, once again - thx for your help - I will try to find in Japan "a helping hand" for my problem. I do not find - although after a longer search - a english speaking service address (inclusive e-Mail) at the websites of HP.
Take care, and stay in good health!
