HP Envy - 17m-ce0013dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

New HP Envy as of last Friday for my wife and getting multiple warnings in Event Viewer of WHEA Logger Event 17. I have the latest chip-set and bios installed and all drivers are up to date. No pending updates in Support. Geek Squad did a tune up and said not to worry about them as the Laptop was running perfectly. I have been doing investigating on the net and saw this warning was a problem for many users of laptops of different brands especially HP since 2016. Please let me know if there is a fix or not.

Thank you

I suggest you perform the following steps to check and repair any Windows error

1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del, select Task Manager.

2. From the File menu, select Run new task.

3. Put a check mark next to Create this task with administrative privileges and tap or click OK.

4. Type cmd and hit Enter.

5. Type the following commands in same order in the Command prompt window:

a. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

(This command scans and verifies the integrity of all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct versions).

b. Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth and press Enter.

c. Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth and press Enter.

d. Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press Enter.

(These commands fix any files that System File Checker can't repair and Windows corruption errors).

e. Close the command window.

f. Restart the system.

Also download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you for your response but I have done all that you mentioned above and in fact several times already. This warning that I and others are getting has been a known problem for several years now and if you do a search on this WHEA logger event 17 warning you will find numerous discussions and I have yet to find a fix. This occurs in many other name brand laptops as well especially with HP. HP has know about this since I believe 2016 and nothing has been done to remedy this. I appreciate your suggestions on what to do but that does not come close of getting rid of the warnings. My wife's laptop is running perfectly with no pending HP and Microsoft updates to install. There are no integrity errors in SFC or DISM.
