Hello there,
I've run into an issue that it seems plenty of others are having with the HP Envy, it seems that the buttons for muting the speakers and the microphone are not working as intended anymore.
The speaker mute button works functionally however the orange toggle light will not come on when the speaker is muted, as for the microphone mute button it just simply doesn't work at all.
The problem resolves itself whenever I restart the laptop however after not too long it will fail again.
I'd like to know what driver is responsible for these buttons so I can manually restart it when this happens, I'd also like to know if the drivers will be updated to stop this. I understand that Windows 11 is new operating system however with the amount of people having the same issue after just one google search it's surprising that this has not been dealt with at all. The least I'd expect from a 1 year old laptop is that the keyboard functions correctly on the unaltered operating system it came with.
I've not modified the system at all from when I received it so it was just shipped to me with these faulty drivers and the problem was not solved after me extensively updating all the drivers on the laptop.
Thankyou,
envious man

Hi @enviousman
Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.
I see that you are not able to use the mute button on your system for speaker and microphone. Do not worry we are here to help you fix it.
May I know from when are you facing this issue?
May I know if you have made any recent hardware or software related changes to your system?
May I know if the mute feature works fine and is it just the orange light which gives trouble?
- Open Device Manager
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers
- Right-click and uninstall your computer's existing audio driver
- Download/install this:
Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver

*Edit*
Because this thread has been gaining a lot of traction, I will note that it is recommended that you install the latest Audio Driver available for your computer. With your computer's model/product number, head to HP's Software and Driver's page to download and install the latest audio driver.
Information on how to find a laptop's model/product number is detailed in this HP document.
You can also have HP Support Assistant automatically recommend the latest updates for your computer.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
