- Mute lights F6 and F12...

Recently my laptop "upgraded" itself to Win 11... the mute lights on F6 and F12 used to turn or turn off as appropriate when the keys were pressed, and the keyboard backlight was always on (which is what I want). No longer
Since the upgrade (read DOWNGRADE!) I can no longer find a way to engage the mute lights, and cannot turn the keyboard backlight to "always on" - it automatically turns off after a short period, even when the laptop is plugged in.
I have wasted HOURS and HOURS trying to find the answer on the HP site, and on the Microsoft site, (and have probably mucked up the whole system in the process) - to no avail.
There seems to be no way to get into the BIOS to sort the problems, and none of the information presented by HP is appropriate, nor does it work.
Does anyone know of a solution to my problems?

Thanks... I discovered that method last night, and was surprised that it worked, after so many other suggestions failed.
It may be important for others to know that this method seems to be specific for the HP Spectre x360 convertible 13-aw0xx.
It brought on the mute light on the F6 button.
Getting the mute light on the F12 button was a bit different...
Get to the page System Sound Find All Sound Devices, then scroll down to Properties and play with those options. Worked for me.
Now all I have to do is find out how to turn on an option that I used to have: Keyboard Backlight Always On (at least when plugged in to power). I find the HP Help so, so complicated because even products that are almost idential have differing properties and setups!

hello
please try that :
- Open Device Manager
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers
- Right-click and update the driver (automatic method)
- Reboot
- If that doesn't work, right-click and uninstall your computer's existing audio driver
- Action > Scan for hardware changes
- Reboot
regards
