My laptop that i just bought "new" for my studies is making loud noise almost all the time. it seems like it's overheating from inside and the fan is working harder to cool down. The prosessor is core i5 11th generation and have 8GB RAM, 500 GB harddisk. Please help me solve the problem.

@Mesta

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I understand that your HP notebook produces loud noise, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • Shut down the computer, and then inspect and clean the exterior vents to remove dust buildup by blowing air through the vent openings. Dust can accumulate inside the vent openings and around internal cooling components, preventing the removal of heat.

For more information on the fan: HP Notebook PCs - Fan Is Noisy and Spins Constantly

  • Perform a hard reset. Performing a hard reset can reset recorded thermal values in memory and enable you to use the computer again, even if only for a short time to access and save any important files before service.

For more information on performing a hard reset, see Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues.

  • In some cases, updating the BIOS might help prevent the noisy operation from occurring. For more information on how to update the BIOS, see Updating the BIOS.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi again,

Thank you for your tips and support.

Answering your questions: no i didn't make any windows updates or software updates, and didn't make any setting changes.

I have tried everything you mentioned, but it didn't solve the issue. Is it a common problem with these types of laptops?

The noise is very annoying and even if i am just opening few browser pages. And i am afraid it will affect the laptop and the components

@Mesta

Thank you for posting back.

I appreciate your efforts!

The last thing I can suggest trying to restore a computer back to the factory default, which will isolate whether it’s a software or hardware issue.

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
