My laptop has a 3.5 mm combo jack, but when I plugged in the headphone (also 3.5 mm) It didn't get in. Is this a hardware or software defect ? Please help me.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to connect a 3.5mm headphone to the computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
Have you tried using different headphones?
All the 3.5mm headphones should fit properly in the headphone jack. If you have tried more than one headphone and facing the same issue, then it might be a hardware issue.
I recommend you contact support and they will assist you in this regard.
Here is how you can get in touch with support.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.
