Hi @Shahreyar_11,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with issues with your HP Victus laptop's backlight. Backlit keyboards are typically controlled by either hardware or software, and there could be a range of reasons why it suddenly stopped working. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Keyboard Backlight Settings

  • Function Key: On many laptops, the backlight can be toggled on and off using a function key. Look for a key with a keyboard icon or a light icon (often F3, F4, or similar) and try pressing it while holding the Fn key.
  • HP Support Assistant: If you have HP Support Assistant installed, it might offer a way to control or troubleshoot the keyboard backlight.

2. Inspect BIOS/UEFI Settings

  • Enter BIOS/UEFI: Restart your laptop and press the key to enter BIOS/UEFI settings (usually F2, F10, Esc, or Del).
  • Keyboard Settings: Look for settings related to the keyboard backlight. Sometimes there are options to control the backlight behavior.
  • Save and Exit: Make any necessary changes and save them before exiting BIOS.

3. Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers

  • Device Manager:
    • Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
    • Locate the Keyboards section, right-click on your keyboard device, and select Update driver. Follow the prompts to search for and install any updates.
    • If updating doesn’t work, try uninstalling the device and restarting your laptop. Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.

4. Check for Windows Updates

  • Update Windows:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    • Check for updates and install any available updates. Sometimes updates can fix hardware-related issues.

5. Perform a Power Reset

  • Power Reset:
    • Shut down your laptop.Disconnect the power adapter and, if removable, remove the battery.
    • Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds.
    • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn on the laptop.

6. Inspect Physical Condition

  • Dust and Debris: Ensure that there is no dust or debris obstructing the keyboard backlight. Sometimes particles can interfere with the backlight's operation.

8. Consider Hardware Issues

  • Hardware Failure: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, there might be a hardware problem with the backlight itself. If your laptop is under warranty, contact HP for repair or replacement options.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
