I have a brand new HP Notebook - 17-ca0007na bought a couple of weeks ago. Today was the first time I have tried to play an audio CD in the CD drive. It will play a CD for around 2 or 2 and a half minutes, then it will stop and Media Player will no longer recognise there is a CD in the drive.
I've tried all the suggestions in the HP Customer Support Knowledge Base:
Tested different audio CDs (the same thing happens with all of them, although they play correctly on other devices)
Tested the drive for hardware failure (all tests passed but did not do the last test in the list as I did not have a writable CD)
Checked the drive status in Device Manager (the system says it's working properly) and uninstalled (nothing changed)
Enabled Auto Play (made no difference)
I have not used System Restore to go back to a time when the drive played the disc as it's brand new and it's never worked! Does anyone recognise this problem? Could it be an issue with a driver? All suggestions gratefully received. Thanks in advance.
