250 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi ,

I'm using HP 250 G3 Notebook and my DVD Drive doesn't read  DVD-9 (DVD Dual Layer): just makes some noises for 4-5 seconds and stops (my DVDs-9 are of good quality from official movie distributors).

Writing and reading of DVD-5 works OK.

Uninstalling of DVD-ROM in  Device Manager doesn't help.

Updating of notebook BIOS to F.47( Rev.A  Jun 25, 2019) doesn't help.

Looks like this is DVD Drive firmware problem, but I can't find DVD firmware update for Windows 10 for this model.

My DVD drive info:

model DU8A5SHL, firmware ZH63;

SCSI\CDROM&VEN_HP&PROD_DVDRW__DU8A5SHL\4&237F9CB0&0&010000
SCSI\CdRomhp______DVDRW__DU8A5SHL_ZH63

Thank you for advise.

@Olek19

Been a long time since I used one of these, having switched over to USB sticks long ago, but from what I recall, using DL disks was a very difficult process as it not only depended on the Brand of disk, but also some disks in a pack would not work.

You could try a different brand of disk -- as the specs for this drive clearly show that it is DL-compatible.
