My hp laptop's ethernet slot latch is broken while plugging in. The customer service said that that slot is connected with the motherboard, that's why I need to replace the whole motherboard for a single ethernet slot latch. Is that correct? and Can't I get some latch for it?photo_2021-09-01_11-46-28.jpg

That means you have to buy a whole new  System board (not just motherboard) which includes CPU, GPU Windows license and few other things, very expensive.

In my case, I simply put a piece of sticky tape to cover it and use USB adapter

I've got 2 more ports. You can buy 4-7 ports adapter.

Regards.
