HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought a laptop to my wife to use in her business. I did choose a HP EliteBook 830 G8 Notebook PC and a HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock, but the laptop wont charge through the Dock. Dock part number: N28963-001

We did pick the docking station that can supply the 120W and laptop already uses a USB-C connected charger of 65W. But we would like the computer to charge directly from the dock. Are there some settings that we need to change or charge profiles to select maybe? The Dock work flawlessly on other functions. USB, two displays, Network etc. It will easily charge a phone on the USB-A connectors.

The computer have two USB-C ports next to eachother on the right side and It does charge, if the dock is plugged into one port and the other one we plug in the 65W charger. So we do have a workaround but not ideal. I triled to charge my phone from the USB-C connected cable (that usually goes into the laptop and my phone charges without problem. (And funny enough also replicates the display to my larger monitors). So the connected USB-C cable works. The connectors both work to charge the laptop with the 65w charger and also as port replicator through the dock.

I know we can do that for HP EliteBook 830 G7 also G5 and G6. HP removed the list on page 39 of the following document:

Hi Banhien and thanks for trying to help me out,

Sorry but I do not understand your answer fully. You say that the the docking used to work for other computers. My wife's is a G8 computer. It goes without saying that the docking shall charge the laptop when it say so in the product description "Charges laptop through single cable of 65W" The document you sent me do contain a lot of information about docking but I again struggle to understand what to get from that. The document has 29 pages. You refer to page 39.

I know the dock supports charging a laptop, and also that the USB-C port at the laptop do support charging, but do not understand if there are settings or other that need to be altered to make it work.
