My HP Envy not able to connect with my HP Thunderbolt Dock G2 with Combo Cable anymore. I plug another computer to my docking station which is the purpose of a docking station, and now my HP envy no longer detect my docking station except for power. It looks like my USB-C port no longer work for this docking station.

Hi @Youlrick2000,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
Let's try to troubleshoot your HP ENVY 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-ep1000 not detecting the HP Thunderbolt Dock G2 (except for power):
1. Physical Connection (Touch & Visual)
- Inspect the USB-C port on both the laptop and docking station for any dust, dirt, or debris. Blow air or gently clean with a soft brush or cloth to ensure nothing is obstructing the connection.
- Wiggle the cable slightly to check for any loose connection or movement at the port. A firm click should indicate a good fit.
2. Check Indicator Lights (Visual)
- Look for the LED indicators on the docking station and laptop. If the dock's lights are on but not behaving as expected (e.g., no data transfer activity), the issue may be with the data channel.
- Reboot the dock by unplugging the power cable from the docking station for 10-15 seconds, then plug it back in to reset it.
3. Device Manager (Visual & Feedback)
- Open Device Manager on your laptop (press Windows + X > select Device Manager).
- Check under Universal Serial Bus controllers for any yellow exclamation marks next to USB devices or Thunderbolt controllers. If found, try disabling and re-enabling them or uninstall the drivers and allow Windows to reinstall them upon restart.
4. Cable Test (Touch)
- Test the cable by gently bending or trying a different USB-C Thunderbolt cable if available. A faulty cable can result in data issues while still providing power.
5. Thunderbolt Settings & Firmware (Visual & Auditory)
- Open the Thunderbolt Control Center (search for it in the Start menu) and check whether your docking station is listed. If not, click on the menu (three dots) and select Scan for Thunderbolt devices.
- Ensure the dock's firmware is up to date. HP provides firmware updates for Thunderbolt docks, so check the HP Support page for the latest version.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
