HP Pavilion 15-cs2082tx

My HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cs2xxx doesn’t charge when it's powered off, and the charging port light blinks 5 long blinks even when the laptop is off. The laptop only charges when it’s switched on, and the blinking light remains on continuously. I have followed all the troubleshooting steps mentioned in this community, including pressing and holding the power button for 15 seconds and performing some additional steps.

Hi @Calmuser,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

It sounds like your HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cs2xxx is experiencing a hardware-related issue with the charging circuit. Here are a few steps you can try to diagnose and possibly resolve the problem:

Check the Charger and Cable:

  • Ensure that the charger and cable are working properly. Try using a different charger that is compatible with your laptop to see if the issue persists.

Inspect the Charging Port:

  • Check the charging port for any visible damage or debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean out any dust or debris that may be obstructing the connection.

Battery Reset:

  • Remove the battery (if it is removable) and hold down the power button for 15-30 seconds to discharge any remaining power. Then, reinsert the battery and try charging again.

Update BIOS and Drivers:

  • Ensure that your BIOS and power management drivers are up to date. You can download the latest versions from the HP Support website.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect all external devices and power sources.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power adapter and turn on the laptop.

Check Power Settings:

  • Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
  • Click on "Change plan settings" for your selected power plan.
  • Click on "Change advanced power settings."
  • Expand the "Battery" section and make sure that the settings for "Critical battery action" and "Low battery level" are appropriate.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem related to the charging circuit or the battery itself. In this case, it is best to contact HP Phone Support for further assistance or to take your laptop to an authorized service center for a more detailed diagnosis and repair.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

The charger and cable are working fine, and the charging port is clean. I've also done a battery reset and updated the BIOS and drivers. Additionally, I performed a hard reset and checked the power settings, which are all good. I've followed all the procedures you suggested, but the problem still exists. Please help me with this.
