I've had my HP ENVY x360 13-ay0015no since 2020 and have loved it, especially the pen since it is really useful for university. The pen has worked flawlessly up until a few months ago. Since then the pen has had a hard time recharging, not charging unless i put in a cable the right way, a month or so later it wouldn't work at all unless a charging cable was connected to it(which is really not how it should be), I could leave it charging for 30 minutes at it would die immediately . Last week it came to the point where the charging light on top of the pen does not light up at all anymore and the computer does not recognize its touch or anything. Could it be that the battery has died?

Yes.
The battery in the pen could no longer have any useful service life left, or died as you put it.
I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your pen. My HP Spectre 13t-ap000 notebook from 2018 was delivered with on.
I hardly ever use it, but it still does hold a charge as advertized.
As far as I can tell from careful examination of the example that I own, the lithium battery inside is not easily replaceable.
I will look into this a bit deeper and let you know if I find out anything else.

I would think so.
