What seems the problem of my laptop? My HP battery health is around 82% with 400 cycles but my laptop is suddenly shut off. Even after i removed the battery inside, my laptop still shut off itself. I tried running HP Hardware Diagnostics but it also shut off. I'm afraid to replace the battery because i don't want to waste a money and found out that the issue is inside the motherboard. I was able to use laptop for few minutes then it automatically shut off.

Hi @Carlo26,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. Which HP laptop model and exact configuration do you have?
  2. Does the laptop shut off immediately, or does it work for a few minutes before powering down?
  3. Did this behavior start suddenly, or after a Windows update, BIOS update, or physical impact?
  4. Does it happen both on battery and plugged in, or only one of these?

 Troubleshooting steps to try:

1. Power Drain :
shut down your laptop, disconnect the power adapter and all peripherals, then press and hold the power button for           15-30 seconds to clear residual power, and finally reconnect the adapter and turn it back on

.

2. UEFI adpter test :

  • first shut down your PC, then power it on and repeatedly press Esc, then F2 to enter the Diagnostics UEFI; from the main menu, select Component test  then choose AC adapter  (or Power for battery/adapter), and run the Quiclk test to check its functionality and get a failure ID if needed.

2. UEFI battery test :

shut down your laptop, power it on and repeatedly press Esc to enter the Startup Menu, then press F2 for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. Navigate to Component Tests > Power > Battery, then click Run once to start the check and review the status for "Passed," "Weak," "Replace," or "Failure with ID".

I hope this helps

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!
