I bought this HP mouse online a couple months ago, it worked perfectly. Until about a month or so later when it stopped. The light will flicker and dim for a bit then just disappear altogether before flickering again. I've tried changing the battery multiple times, but nothing seems to work. Do I just need to get a new mouse? Or can the one I have now be fixed somehow?

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand the HP mouse isn't working,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Have you reseated or replaced the battery?
Did you check if any alternate mouse works fine with the same USB port?
While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:
If your wireless mouse or keyboard is not working, perform each step in order, checking the mouse and keyboard after each step, until the mouse and keyboard work:
-
Insert the USB wireless receiver into an open USB port on the computer.
-
If the underside of the mouse has an On/Off switch, make sure that the switch is set to the On position, and then verify if the LED on the mouse illuminates after the switch is set to ON and verify the caps lock key light is on. For some keyboard models which have power switch, make sure it is also set to the On position.
-
Replace the batteries with a fresh set of alkaline batteries and make sure they are correctly installed. If the mouse or keyboard is not working, replace the batteries even if the mouse/keyboard software indicate the batteries still have a charge.
Remove the battery cover to access the batteries. The battery access cover is found on the underside of the keyboard. When replacing the batteries, look for the positive symbol (a plus sign +) imprinted near the battery compartment or battery cover. Make sure the positive end of the battery is oriented to the positive side of the compartment

I've replaced the battery many times before. The LED light will flicker, go off for a bit then flicker again. As if it's dying. But I bought brand new batteries and even tried those. And since the HP mouse isn't working I bought a new one, and that one works perfectly in every single port in the computer. So it's just the HP mouse.
