Hello
I bought this laptop for my wife less than 3 years ago (october 2018).
Today the battery is dead. I mean, it is supposed to be 100% charged (says windows) but as soon as I unplug it => power down.
I wanted to know if there is something to do, is it a software issue in managing the battery ?
I ran the diagnostic test, which failed, while the battery was detected.
I can post the full report below.
Thanks for any help, this is beyond annoying, especially for a recent laptop like that.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I understand that your HP notebook battery is not working correctly.
The average laptop battery is good for around 400 recharges cycles. After that, it starts to lose its capacity to hold a charge. This is about one and a half to three years of battery life for the average user. As the rechargeable battery begins to fail, the running time of the battery begins to decline.
Learn how to get the most service and life from your HP notebook battery by following these industry-wide suggested best practices.

Thanks for taking time to reply to my post.
Unfortunately, I understand what you mean by "decline", but my issue is that there is zero seconds of battery left !
If I unplug the power from the laptop, immediately laptop shuts down. And the battery is in.
I would expect after 3 years to have 1h of running over battery.
I would accept to have 30min, to be able at least to move around my laptop from one room to another.
But zero, I do not understand !
So I understand there is no software issue, nor any solution to solve this. I am stuck with my problem.
This is very unfortunate, it looks like laptops are not really meant to run on battery, as I understand it...
Have a good day

Sorry for the delay in responding, I was away for some time.
I had a chat with a HP support person, and unfortunately no solution was found except replace the battery, which is considered as dead.
As I was told: "battery lifetime is on average one year".
It is good to know that when we buy HP laptop we can expect to buy a new battery every year (more than 200$ per battery) ...
Case closed !
