Hi, My laptop battery is Is swollen and deformed my laptop. I use it in normal conditions at University in regular weather (I live in Canada). I was very disappointed B/C when I requested my case; Hp just sent an email with some unuseful links. Although Hp thinks it is not dangerous, Hp should pay more attention to the quality of their products and respect their customers. For example, Apple immediately changed a device's parts (warranty expired).

Is your notebook still within the factory one year warranty?
HP's stance on swelling batteries
"To protect your hardware from potential damage, HP recommends that if you are experiencing battery swelling, discontinue use of the notebook until you can replace the battery."
See the document at the hyperlink below where you will find valuable information on your battery's condition.

Thanks for the reply. No, I bought it in 2019. The Hp stance is not helpful while they don't change or provide support. As a professional project manager, I can tell you that this issue shows a poor quality management process. Also, I know that HP doesn't care about my beliefs. I will change my computer, but I recommend HP quality managers reevaluate their control procedures.

Oh it is worse. Note how they recommend to take out swollen battery until you get a replacement battery. At the same time, they make it impossible to contact them about the replacement battery. They will not sell you one. And at the same time, if you get a third party battery, they will keep pestering you with counterfeit battery warning on every startup of your laptop. Honestly, it is crazy how they think it is acceptable. I am in same position as you right now and I can promise you this is the last time I bought hp product.

If it were a CATCH-22 as you suggest I would agree it is unacceptable. However, HP's stance on this is exactly the same as other laptop makers. Post-warranty, battery replacement is part of owning a laptop. Genuine HP batteries are available in the marketplace for years, and from HP's stores for usually about a year after the laptop is introduced. I do wish HP would stock replacement batteries for a longer time for more models but they have decided to be in the laptop business and not the battery business. If you want help finding a replacement genuine HP battery and with instructions to do the replacement, we can help. Replacing a whole laptop just because it needs a new battery does not seem to me to make economic sense.

Oh no no no. You misunderstood me. I am not expecting HP to be selling me replacement battery. That is not my issue. My issues are:
First it is impossible to contact HP about the issue to get a direction from them what should I do or where should I go. I open a case about swollen battery, it gets shut down without providing me any info. There is no live chat when I can speak with someone. I managed to get on some sort of facebook chat that provided zero info. There is only a phone call available that I have to subscribe and pay for. Which, I have a suspicion would be a waste of money and I would get no info there either. There is an out-of-date list of HP genuine part resellers.
Second, because of the above I have no ability to tell where I can buy genuine replacement parts. As you say, genuine batteries are available in marketplace, but there are even more counterfeit batteries and scammy sellers out there. I am left hoping that some guy from china selling me a battery on ebay will sell me a genuine part. It is a waste of time and money and it is because of HP's poor service.
Third, I have not heard about other manufacturers penalizing you for using third party replacement batteries by pestering you about counterfeit battery in your system on every startup. With no option to turn that off mind you.
If you can truly help me, please do. I have opened my own thread here and the response I got was a search list on ebay with my battery part number. Unless you have a list of authorized resellers or at least known trustworthy sellers I don't think you can. Here are my battery part numbers:
YB06XL; 928427-271; 928372-855;

I buy and replace laptop batteries all the time. I know Dell and Lenovo have "non-genuine" nagging messages or did fairly recently. In some cases they can be turned off in the BIOS. I am sending this on an HP laptop that has a third party battery installed and I get no nagging battery message but its a business model so maybe you do get such a message. Virtually all laptop batteries are made in China. And the "third party" batteries in many cases are made in the same facility using the same parts as genuine logoed batteries, there is just no royalty to pay to HP. I see you rejected suggestions from @Paul_Tikkanen. Good luck.

I posted that quote because I know that if a swelling battery is left in it will damage the notebook enclosure.
I have replace many batteries past warranty. I asked about warranty because for a time HP was replacing batteries that had the swelling issue.
It is your notebook and replacing the battery with a third party unit is your own business as it was mine when I replaced mine.
I wish you the best of seccess in your battery replacement.
