Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, my Pavilion 17 has recently developed the 'stuck Ctrl' key problem.  It occurs intermittently and so far I have not been able to a fix.  Does anyone know if the is a recognized fix for this problem other than throwing the machine through a window.  Many thanks

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

If a key sticks in the down position, removing and cleaning the key might solve the issue. If physical keys are getting stuck while typing it refers to hardware related issue

  1. Turn off the notebook, and then disconnect the AC adapter.

  2. If your notebook has a removeable battery, remove the battery.

  3. Insert a butter knife under one edge of the key and gently pry up on the top and bottom edge.

caution: To avoid damaging the pad under the key, insert the butter knife only 1/8 inch under the edge of the key.

    Removing the stuck key

  4. Use a swab with alcohol to clean the key and its slot in the keyboard.

Cleaning the key and its slow in the keyboard

  5. Replace the key by snapping it back into place.

note: Longer keys, such as Space and Enter, probably have a small metal rod for support. Make sure to insert this rod into the key before replacing the key.

Finding the metal rod under the spacebar

If a key cannot be unstuck, or the keyboard does not have keys that can be removed, service the computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
