HP Pavilion - 14-ce2500sa
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

My 14-ce2500sa laptop has recently developed a battery problem. The battery is registering at 0% and doesn't charge at all, no matter how long it is left on charge for. If the cable is taken out, it powers off automatically and cannot be turned on; it can only do so when the cable is plugged back in.

The LED next to the charger socket flashes white on and off whenever it's plugged in; on normal operating, it would glow solid orange when charging, then solid white when fully charged.

What should I do? Can anybody help me?

@James-622, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help resolve the battery issue you're experiencing with your HP Pavilion - 14-ce2500sa laptop:

Perform a Hard Reset

This can clear any firmware or hardware glitches.

  1. Shut down the laptop.
  2. Unplug the power adapter.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power adapter (without turning on the laptop).
  5. Try turning it on and check if the battery starts charging.

Run HP Battery Check

Use HP’s diagnostic tool to test battery health.

This will tell you if the battery is faulty and needs replacement.

Check the AC Adapter and Charging Port

  • Ensure you're using the original HP charger.
  • Inspect the charging port for dust or damage.
  • Try a different compatible HP charger if available.

BIOS Update (Optional but Recommended)

Sometimes a BIOS update can fix battery detection issues.

  • Visit the HP Software & Drivers page.
  • Enter your product: HP Pavilion - 14-ce2500sa.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS update.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
