Hi @Nishantjha72,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop's battery level is stuck or frozen at 85% and it doesn't decrease, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

  • Restart your laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix minor glitches, including battery-level reporting issues.
  • Check the power adapter: Ensure that your power adapter is connected properly and functioning correctly. Faulty or incompatible power adapters may cause charging problems.
  • Reset the battery management system: Some HP laptops have a built-in battery management system that can be reset to recalibrate the battery level readings. To do this, shut down your laptop, unplug the power adapter, and then press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds. Afterward, plug in the power adapter and turn on your laptop to see if the issue persists.
  • Update the BIOS: An outdated BIOS can cause battery-related problems. Visit HP's official website and check if there are any BIOS updates available for your laptop model. Follow the instructions to update the BIOS if needed.
  • Check battery health: Windows has built-in battery health diagnostics that can be accessed through the Command Prompt. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter. This will generate a battery report, and you can review it to check for any abnormalities or issues with your laptop's battery.
  • Calibrate the battery: Battery calibration can help in cases where the battery readings are inaccurate. To calibrate the battery, discharge it completely until the laptop shuts down, then recharge it to 100% without interruptions.
  • Perform a battery check: Some HP laptops come with built-in battery diagnostics. To access this, restart your laptop and repeatedly press the F2 or F10 key (depending on your laptop model) to enter the BIOS or UEFI settings. From there, you may find an option to run a battery check or diagnostics.
  • Check for driver updates: Ensure that all your drivers, including the battery driver, are up to date. You can do this by going to the Device Manager, expanding the "Batteries" section, right-clicking on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery," and selecting "Update driver."

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
