Hi @Buckeye4Life123,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing a couple of issues with your HP 15.6-inch laptop PC 15: the battery not charging past 51% and a message indicating an issue with the fan. Let's address these issues one by one.

Battery Not Charging Past 51%: There could be several reasons why your laptop's battery isn't charging to its full capacity. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

  • a. Check the Charger and Cable: Ensure that the charger and charging cable are functioning correctly. Try using a different charger and cable to see if the issue persists.
  • b. Reset the Battery Management System: Sometimes, resetting the battery management system can help. To do this, turn off the laptop, unplug it, and then press and hold the power button for around 15 seconds. After that, plug in the charger and turn on the laptop.
  • c. Calibrate the Battery: Calibrating the battery can sometimes resolve charging issues. To do this, allow the laptop to discharge completely until it shuts down, then recharge it to 100% without interruptions.
  • d. Update the Battery Driver: Ensure that your laptop's battery driver is up-to-date. You can do this through the Device Manager in Windows.
  • e. Check for Battery Health: Use built-in Windows utilities or third-party software to check the health of your laptop's battery. If it's significantly degraded, you may need to replace the battery.

Fan Issue: The message indicating that the fan isn't working is a critical concern as it can lead to overheating and damage to your laptop. Here's what you should do:

  • a. Immediate Shutdown: If you receive a message about the fan not working, immediately shut down your laptop to prevent overheating and potential damage.
  • b. Inspect the Fan: After shutting down the laptop, carefully inspect the fan area for any visible obstructions like dust or debris. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can try to clean the fan and its surroundings using compressed air.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
