My bluetooth driver simply disappeared

Hi! Apparently, the laptop that had Bluetooth no longer has it! The Bluetooth icon disappeared, and when I went to look for the Bluetooth driver (to try and solve the problem), it wasn't there!! I tried to install the Bluetooth driver for my laptop model (MediaTek MT7921 Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax PCIe Adapter (I'm guessing that the Bluetooth driver is the same model as the wi-fi one), and it didn't work. I really don't know what to do, and I don't want to stay without the Bluetooth feature!

Thank you for sharing the image. We understand how important Bluetooth connectivity is, and we appreciate the troubleshooting you've already completed.

From the Device Manager screenshot, we can see:

• The MediaTek MT7921 Wi‑Fi 6 802.11ax PCIe Adapter is present and appears to be recognized by Windows.
• There is no Bluetooth category visible.
• The Bluetooth component of the MediaTek wireless card is not currently being detected by Windows.

Since the Wi‑Fi portion is working but the Bluetooth portion is missing, let's work through the next troubleshooting steps.

Step 1: Show Hidden Devices

1. Open Device Manager.
2. Select View > Show hidden devices.
3. Check whether:
   • A Bluetooth section appears.
   • A greyed-out Bluetooth device appears.

If you find any greyed-out Bluetooth devices:

1. Right-click each Bluetooth entry.
2. Select Uninstall device.
3. Restart the notebook.

Step 2: Perform a Hardware Reset

1. Shut down the notebook completely.
2. Disconnect the AC adapter.
3. If the battery is removable, remove it.
4. Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
5. Reconnect power.
6. Start the notebook and check if Bluetooth returns.

Step 3: Check BIOS Recognition

1. Turn off the notebook.
2. Power on and repeatedly tap F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
3. Restore BIOS defaults:
   • Press F9 to load defaults.
   • Select Yes.
   • Press F10 to save and exit.
4. After Windows loads, check Device Manager again.

Step 4: Scan for Hardware Changes

1. Open Device Manager.
2. Click the computer name at the top of the list.
3. Select Action > Scan for hardware changes.
4. Wait a few moments and check whether Bluetooth reappears.

Step 5: Reinstall the Wireless Package Because the MT7921 combines Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth functions, the correct HP package is important.

It sounds like Windows may have disabled or lost the Bluetooth adapter. Check Device Manager → View → Show hidden devices, then look under Bluetooth and Network adapters for the MediaTek MT7921 or an unknown device. Also try shutting the laptop down completely, unplugging the charger for a minute, and starting it again. If it still doesn't appear, download the latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers from your laptop manufacturer's support page—Bluetooth usually has a separate driver from Wi-Fi.
