Issue: My built-in keyboard and touchpad don't work in Windows 11. They do work in BIOS and boot menus, but not in the operating system (even in Safe Mode). External keyboard and mouse work fine.
What I’ve Tried:
> Updated BIOS settings (no HID/keyboard/touchpad disabling options)
> Set HID services to automatic
> Ran sfc /scannow
> Tried reinstalling HP drivers (Serial IO, Chipset, Synaptics)
> Manually updated drivers via Device Manager
> Uninstalling all hidden devices in device manager under keyboard and mice and restarting the pc.
> Installing all optional updates in Windows Update > Advanced Options > Optional Updates
Keyboard and touchpad still don’t respond in Windows, even in Safe Mode or the blue repair screen.
I tried installing the HP drivers (Synaptics Precision Touchpad Driver - Version: “19.5.35.57 Rev.I”, Intel Serial IO Driver - Whiskey Lake/Comet Lake - Version: "30.100.2020.7 Rev.J", and Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver (Windows 10 v1909) - version "10.1.18121.8164 Rev.E") from the official HP website using the latest Windows 10 versions because Windows 11 wasn’t listed.
But during installation, it showed the error: ‘The driver is not supported on this OS version (10.0.26100)’
Specs: HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14-dh1179tu
Intel Core i5-10210U, 8GB RAM
Originally had Windows 10, now on Windows 11

Hi @dithujithu
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like you've already done a thorough job troubleshooting this issue, but the fact that your keyboard and touchpad work in BIOS but not in Windows suggests a driver or compatibility issue.
Since the HP drivers you tried gave an unsupported OS version error, here are some additional steps to try:
1. Check Windows 11 Compatibility Mode
- Right-click the driver installer file.
- Select Properties → Compatibility.
- Check Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 10.
- Click Apply and try installing the driver again.
2. Install Generic Windows Drivers
- Open Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).
- Expand Keyboards and Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click HID Keyboard Device and HID Touchpad Device.
- Select Update driver → Browse my computer for drivers → Let me pick from a list.
- Choose Standard PS/2 Keyboard and Standard PS/2 Mouse.
3. Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
- Restart your laptop and press F8 repeatedly.
- Select Disable Driver Signature Enforcement.
- Try installing the HP drivers again.
4. Perform a System Restore
- Press Win + R, type rstrui, and hit Enter.
- Select a restore point before the issue started.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to restore Windows.
