Hi @Aidenplayz,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Chromebook x360 won't turn off or sleep when you close the lid, this is usually due to settings or system issues. Here are a few things you can try to fix the problem.

Check Lid Close Action Settings:

Chromebooks usually have an option to specify what happens when you close the lid.

  • Go to Settings > Device > Power.
  • Ensure the option "Sleep when lid is closed" is selected.

Restart Your Chromebook:

  • Press and hold the Power button until the Chromebook turns off.
  • Wait a few seconds, then press the Power button again to turn it back on. This often resolves temporary glitches.

Update Chrome OS:

  • Click the clock in the bottom-right corner, then click the Settings icon.
  • Scroll down and select About Chrome OS.
  • Click Check for Updates to make sure you're running the latest version.

Check for External Devices:

Sometimes, connected external devices (like a mouse or keyboard) can prevent the Chromebook from entering sleep mode.

  • Disconnect any external peripherals and try closing the lid again.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Hold the Refresh key (circular arrow) and tap the Power button to force a reboot.
  • This can help reset some power management settings.

Check for Extensions or Apps:

Some apps or extensions might prevent your Chromebook from sleeping.

  • Temporarily disable extensions by going to chrome://extensions/ and see if the problem persists.

Powerwash (Factory Reset):

If the issue continues, performing a Powerwash (factory reset) might fix software issues.

  • Go to Settings > Advanced > Reset settings > Powerwash.
  • Follow the instructions to reset your device.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
