Hi @b4blake,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how concerning it can be when your laptop fails to start properly and you see unusual behavior with the keyboard lights and fan noise. Let’s work together to identify what might be going wrong and find a solution for you.

A few questions to help diagnose the issue:

  1. Have there been any recent changes or updates to your laptop, such as new software installations or hardware modifications?
  2. Does the laptop show any signs of power (like the charging indicator) when you try to start it?
  3. Have you tried performing a hard reset or any troubleshooting steps already?

Meanwhile, let's try these steps.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable). Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power. Then, reconnect the battery and power adapter and try to start the laptop again.

Check for External Devices:

  • Disconnect all external devices, including USB drives, printers, and any peripherals. Sometimes, connected devices can cause startup issues. After disconnecting everything, try turning on the laptop again.

Inspect the RAM:

  • If you feel comfortable doing so, open the laptop’s back panel and check if the RAM sticks are properly seated. If you have more than one stick, try removing them one at a time and powering on the laptop with just one stick to see if it starts.

Look for Beep Codes:

  • Pay attention to any beep codes when you power on the laptop. Different beep sequences can indicate specific hardware issues. If you hear beeps, note how many there are and their pattern, as this can guide troubleshooting.

Reset the BIOS:

  • If you can access the BIOS menu (usually by pressing F10, Esc, or F2 as the laptop starts), try resetting it to the default settings. If the screen remains blank, this step may not be possible, but it's worth trying if you can access the menu.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it may indicate a deeper hardware problem, and I recommend contacting HP phone support for further assistance or possible repairs.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
