My computer is permanently mute-I've had help before-and I think it needs to just get repaired already. How much would that cost? It's from water damage, but there was maybe 2-3 tbs of it on the top left corner; nothing too serious-although I'd like to have sound 😕 I've had help from Microsoft and HP and nothing has worked. My warranty expired this Christmas Eve and was wondering how much it'd cost to get it repaired.

Hi,
Can you provide the exact model or product number of the notebook
https://support.hp.com/my-en/document/c00033108
It is difficult to know with water what the actual damage is without disassembly. Could be speakers, motherboard. Does the audio jack give sound (earphones)? When you go into device manager (right-click on start and click on Device Manager) what do you see under "Audio inputs and outputs" and "Sound video and game controller"? When you click on the small speaker symbol in lower right of desktop what is written?
Let me know,
David

Oh, sorry! Here's a link to it from Best Buy so you can look at the specs if you need to.
