Hi @Jimbo166

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for reaching out. I’m really sorry your computer isn’t charging—that’s understandably frustrating.

Let’s walk through a few steps together to help bring your device back to life. I appreciate you taking the time to try charging it already.

1. Check the Power Source and Adapter

  • Plug the charger into a different wall outlet that you know works.
  • Inspect the power cable and adapter for any visible damage, fraying, or bent pins.
  • If you’re using a power strip or surge protector, try plugging directly into the wall.

2. Inspect the Charging Port

  • Gently blow into the charging port or use a soft brush to clear any dust or debris.
  • Make sure the connector fits snugly and doesn’t wiggle or feel loose.

3. Perform a Hard Reset

This helps clear any temporary power glitches:

  • Shut down the computer completely.
  • Unplug the charger.
  • If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reinsert the battery (if removed), plug in the charger, and power it on.

4. Check Battery and Adapter Status in BIOS

Let’s check if the system is detecting the battery and adapter:

  • Turn off the computer.
  • Press the power button and immediately tap the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  • Press F2 to open System Diagnostics.
  • Select Component Tests > Power and run the battery and AC adapter tests.

5. Update the BIOS and Drivers

Outdated firmware can sometimes interfere with charging:

Let me know how these steps go. If the battery or adapter test shows a specific result or error code, I can help interpret it.

You're doing great by taking the time to troubleshoot this—let’s keep going until we get that charge flowing again.
