Hi:
I recommend you replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD.
The Western Digital Blue SA510 2.5" drives provide the best performance for the price.
Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.
You can use the HP cloud recovery tool on another PC running Windows 7 64 bit or newer to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility...

Your specific model notebook comes with a 2.5" mechanical hard drive.

There are other HP Pavilion x360 14m-ba0xx notebooks that came with both a mechanical hard drive and a M.2 SATA SSD, and some that came with no mechanical hard drive and just a M.2 SATA SSD.
The easiest thing for your situation would be to simply replace the dead 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD but if you would rather remove the dead drive and install a M.2 SATA SSD, that would be fine too, but would provide no advantage.
The performance of a M.2 SATA SSD and a 2.5" SATA SSD of the same brands would be exactly the same.
The WD Blue SA510 SSD also comes in the M.2 form factor.
Here is an interesting discussion if you want to go against what the service manual indicates...
This person installed a NVMe M.2 SSD and reported it worked, even though the manual indicates that NVMe SSD's are not supported.
Solved: Can I use SSD M.2 NVMe in HP Pavilion x360 14m-011dx - HP Support Community - 8438267
An NVMe SSD could be up to 5x faster than a SATA SSD, so if you want to experiment with one of those in your notebook, you can try either the Samsung 980 (not 980 Pro), or the Western Digital Blue SN570 NVMe SSD.
The 14m-Ba011dx is basically the same model as yours except it came with a slightly better processor and a M.2 SATA SSD instead of a 2.5" hard drive.

It should work according to the above discussion.
