Hi @Twntrtn,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion wireless keyboard and mouse stopped working after changing the batteries, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

Check Battery Orientation: Ensure that you have inserted the batteries in the correct orientation. The positive (+) and negative (-) sides of the batteries should align with the markings in the battery compartment.

Reconnect Devices: Sometimes, the wireless connection between the keyboard/mouse and the receiver may be lost. Follow these steps to reconnect them:

  • Turn off the keyboard and mouse.
  • Locate the wireless receiver (USB dongle) connected to your computer.
  • Unplug the receiver and wait for about 10 seconds.
  • Plug the receiver back into a USB port on your computer.
  • Turn on the keyboard and mouse.

Check Wireless Signal: Make sure there are no obstacles between the wireless devices and the receiver. Objects like metal surfaces and electronic devices can interfere with the wireless signal.

Re-synchronize Devices: Some wireless devices may require re-synchronization after changing batteries. Look for a sync button on the keyboard and mouse. Press it, and then press the sync button on the wireless receiver. This process helps establish a new connection.

Update Drivers: Ensure that your device drivers are up-to-date. Visit the official HP website, locate your product's support page, and download the latest drivers for your keyboard and mouse.

Check for Interference: Other wireless devices or electronic equipment nearby could interfere with the signal. Move these devices away or turn them off temporarily to see if it makes a difference.

Try Another USB Port: Plug the wireless receiver into a different USB port on your computer. Sometimes, certain USB ports may not be functioning properly.

Check for Software Conflicts: Make sure that there are no conflicting software or drivers installed on your computer that might interfere with the operation of the wireless keyboard and mouse.

Replace Batteries Again: While it might seem obvious, double-check the batteries to ensure they are not faulty. Try using a new set of batteries to eliminate the possibility of a defective battery.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
