Troubleshooting Sound Issues on HP Laptops with Ryzen 5000 Series

It sounds like your HP laptop with a Ryzen 5000 series processor is making an unusual sound every few seconds, which is not related to the fan. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check System Sounds Settings:

  • Navigate to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound.
  • Under the Sounds tab, you can check the configuration of system sounds. Ensure that none of the sound alerts are set to play at regular intervals.

Disable Notifications:

  • Sometimes, background applications might send notifications with sounds. Check and disable notification sounds for applications by going to Settings > System > Notifications & Actions.

Check For Conflicting Software:

  • Sometimes, software conflicts can cause unwanted noises. Ensure that your system is up to date by running Windows Update.
  • Also, update any sound drivers by going to Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers and updating the drivers.

Inspect Background Processes:

  • Open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
  • Check for any unusual or unfamiliar processes running in the background that might be causing the sound. End tasks that seem out of place (ensure these are not system-critical tasks).

Disable or Check Hardware Notifications:

  • Some hardware components might send notifications or alerts. Check for any hardware monitoring tools or settings that might be causing the sound.

Perform a Clean Boot:

  • Perform a clean boot to start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This can help determine if background programs are causing the issue. Instructions can be found on the Microsoft support website.

Run HP Support Assistant:

  • Use the HP Support Assistant tool to diagnose and fix issues with the laptop. This tool provides an easy way to manage updates and troubleshoot problems on HP computers.
