Hi @Oam1003,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you might have changed the display settings on your HP Pavilion tx2000 laptop, and now the screen remains black. This can happen if the laptop's display settings were changed to an output that isn't connected, causing it to display on an external monitor that may not be connected or working properly. Here are some steps to try and resolve the issue.
Restart your laptop: Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve display issues.
Use the correct display key: On many laptops, you can cycle through different display options using a function key (e.g., F4 or F8) with a monitor icon on it. Press and hold the "Fn" key and then press the appropriate function key to switch between displays. This key may vary depending on your laptop model.
Connect to an external monitor: If you have access to an external monitor, connect your laptop to it using the appropriate cable (e.g., HDMI, VGA). Once connected, try the key combination mentioned above to switch the display to the external monitor. If the external monitor displays your laptop's screen, it's likely an issue with your laptop's built-in display.
Safe Mode: Boot your laptop in Safe Mode (usually by pressing F8 during startup) to see if the display works in this mode. If it does, it may be a driver issue.
Check Display Settings: If you can access the display settings in Safe Mode, make sure the settings are configured correctly. Set the primary display to your laptop's built-in display.
Update or Roll Back Display Drivers: If you recently updated your display drivers, it might be causing the issue. You can try to update or roll back the drivers from Safe Mode.
System Restore: If the issue started after a recent change to display settings or driver updates, you can try performing a system restore to a point before the problem occurred.
Check for hardware issues: If none of the above steps work, it's possible there's a hardware issue with your laptop's display or the cable connecting it to the motherboard.
Remember that it's essential to exercise caution when making changes to your laptop's settings, especially if you're not entirely sure about the changes you're making.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
