Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Sorry to hear about your HP Victus battery issue! Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot the problem and see if we can get your battery working again.
1. Check if the Battery is Properly Connected
- Ensure that the battery is securely connected to the laptop. Sometimes the battery might get loose, especially if the laptop has been dropped or jostled.
- If you’re comfortable opening up the laptop, check that the battery connector is properly seated in the motherboard. If not, try reseating it.
2. Perform a Battery Reset
- For HP laptops, there’s a battery reset that can sometimes help resolve charging or power issues:
- Turn off the laptop and unplug the power cable.
- Disconnect the battery (if removable) or hold down the power button for 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- If the battery is non-removable, just holding the power button will help.
- Afterward, reconnect the battery and plug in the power adapter.
- Try turning on the laptop to see if it’s charging or working properly.
3. Check Battery Health
- Battery Diagnostics: Many HP laptops have a built-in tool that can check the health of the battery.
- You can check battery health using the HP Support Assistant or through HP Diagnostics.
- Alternatively, open a Command Prompt and type: wmic path win32_battery get batterystatus
- This will show if your laptop is detecting the battery correctly and if it’s working well.
4. Update or Reinstall Battery Drivers
- Go to Device Manager (right-click Start and select Device Manager).
- Expand the Batteries section, right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and select Uninstall device.
- After uninstalling, restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the battery drivers.
5. Check for BIOS Updates
- Sometimes, BIOS updates can fix issues related to power management.
- Go to the HP support website, enter your laptop model, and check for any BIOS updates that might address battery-related issues.
- Follow the provided instructions carefully to update your BIOS.
I hope this helps.
