My keypad no longer lights up and I can't see how to rectify this - the product is less than 1 year old so I am concerned - any ideas please? I will admit to not being very tech savvy too!

@BLACKFLOKI, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Since your HP Envy 17-da0000 is under a year old and the keyboard backlight has stopped working, it could be due to a setting, a driver issue, or a hardware fault.
Please try these steps,
Perform a Hard Reset
A simple reset can sometimes bring things back:
- Shut down the laptop.
- Unplug the charger and remove any USB devices.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the charger and power it back on.
Toggle the Backlight Key
- Look for a key with a backlight icon (usually F5, F4, or a key with a small glowing keyboard symbol).
- Press it once. If that doesn’t work, try Fn + [that key] (e.g., Fn + F5).
Check BIOS Settings
Sometimes the backlight setting can be disabled in the BIOS.
- Shut down the laptop completely.
- Turn it back on and immediately start pressing the Esc key repeatedly until a startup menu appears.
- Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
- Look for a setting like "Action Keys Mode" or "Keyboard Backlight" (under System Configuration or Advanced settings).
- Make sure the backlight is enabled, then save and exit.
Update or Reinstall the Keyboard Driver
- Press Windows + X, then choose Device Manager.
- Expand Keyboards.
- Right-click the keyboard listed and choose Update driver.
- You can also try uninstalling it and then restarting the computer—it will reinstall automatically.
Check Windows Mobility Center
- Press Windows + X, choose Mobility Center.
- If your model supports it, you may see a Keyboard Backlighting option there.
If none of the steps above work, We suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
