Hi @Saikat23

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you are facing issues with the Battery, However the laptop works slowly while connected to the charger, then after unplugging the charger the battery percentage drops rapidly (100% , 95% , 75% ,0%) and shuts down . This usually indicate a battery calibration issue, failing battery cells, incorrect battery reporting, or a power management problem. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Perform a hard reset

  • Shut down the laptop completely.
  • Disconnect the charger.
  • Remove all external devices (USB drives, mouse, etc.).
  • If the battery is removable:
  • Remove the battery.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and charger.
  • Turn on the laptop and check battery behavior.

HP Hardware Diagnostics for battery.

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Turn it back on and repeatedly press Esc.
  • Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Select:
Component Tests > Power > Battery Check
  • Run the test.

Calibrate the battery

  • Charge the laptop to 100%.
  • Keep the charger connected for another 2 hours.
  • Disconnect the charger.
  • Use the laptop normally until the battery reaches around 5%.
  • Allow it to shut down automatically.
  • Charge it back to 100% without interruption.
  • Perform this step for three times.

Windows battery report

  • Right-click the Start menu.
  • Select Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
  • Run: powercfg /batteryreport
  • Windows will create a battery report.
  • Open the generated file and check:
  • Design Capacity
  • Full Charge Capacity

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
