HP Notebook - 17z-ca100 CTO

My laptop case has come unglued & cracking at the top corners & under the wired internet port.  The unit is out of warranty.  Has anyone  with similar problems has any luck with HP fixing the problem (replacing the case)?  The laptop was not dropped or damaged in any way.  When opening and closing the laptop, the hinge shifts and separates the upper case from the bottom case.  Even though the warranty is expired, it shouldn't matter because this is a manufacturer defect.  I have seen other forums where numerous HP customers have the same complaint.  I hope HP realizes this could become a long term customer service problem which would have a big impact on their reputation & future purchases if they don't take care of the situation.  Any help at all is very much appreciated.

I called the number you provided .  The agent I spoke with confirmed that my problem was widespread & very common.  To my surprise, the only suggestion provided was to have the unit repaired at an estimated cost, to me, of $380.  I already knew the computer was out of warranty & the repair cost would be more than I paid for it new.  I was hoping for some acknowledgement of a manufacturing problem & an offering of a free fix similar to a car recall when a defect becomes known.  To say I was disappointed is an understatement.  I have been an HP customer for some time.   In fact, in addition to recommending HP to other people, I purchased a 2nd laptop for my wife about 1 year ago.  Obviously, HP was aware of the problem with the plastic laptops & their fix was to make her laptop with a chassis made of metal which doesn't have the problems my plastic laptop has.  Because you already know what my reaction will be to HP doing nothing, I'm not going to rant & rave about not buying an HP computer ever again or telling everyone I know about this problem.  However, I am going to ask again to please provide a equitable fix for my laptop problem.

An HP rep told me the repair cost would be at least the amount I paid for computer brand new ($299) or possible even more ($380+).  To verify, will HP cover the cost of the repair or replacement at the closest location your link provided (Best Buy)?

I lost my connection so I'm resending it to be certain it was transmitted.
