Hi @Karlyalic
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your Pc not turning on, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today. let's go through a more comprehensive set of troubleshooting techniques:
1. Perform a Hard Reset (Power Cycle)
- Turn off the laptop (if it’s still on).
- Unplug the AC adapter (power cord) from the laptop.
- Remove the battery (if it is removable; for most modern HP laptops, the battery is internal, and this may not be applicable).
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain any remaining power.
- Reconnect the AC adapter to the laptop (don’t insert the battery if it’s removable).
- Try to power on the laptop by pressing the power button again.
2. Check the Power Adapter and Charging Cable
You mentioned checking the charging cable, but let's confirm a few things:
- Inspect the AC adapter and cable for any visible damage or fraying.
- If you have access to another HP-compatible charger, try using that to rule out an issue with your original charger.
- Check if the charging LED light on the adapter is turning on when plugged into the laptop. If it doesn't light up at all, the charger or the laptop’s charging port might be faulty.
3. Inspect the Laptop's LED Indicators
- No LED light could indicate a faulty charger, charging port, or motherboard issue.
- Solid LED light without turning on may suggest the battery is charging but something is preventing the system from booting up.
- Blinking LED light could indicate a power or hardware failure (e.g., memory issue).
4. Check the Display (Screen)
- Look for signs of life: When you press the power button, listen for sounds (fan running, disk spinning, or any beep codes) or check if any lights on the keyboard or screen flash briefly.
- Connect to an external monitor (if available) using an HDMI cable:
- If the laptop displays on the external monitor, the issue could be with the laptop’s built-in display (e.g., a faulty screen, backlight issue, or cable).
- If there’s still no display on the external monitor, the issue is likely internal (motherboard or other hardware failure).
5. Try Booting Without External Devices
Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external mouse, keyboard, printers, etc.) and try turning the laptop on. Sometimes, a faulty peripheral can prevent the laptop from booting up.
6. Perform BIOS Recovery (if possible)
- Perform a BIOS reset or recovery:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press and hold the Windows key + B key simultaneously while pressing the power button for about 15 seconds.
- Release the keys and the power button, and the HP BIOS recovery screen should appear.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the BIOS to its default settings.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
