HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 15m-ee0013dx

My laptops fans only work when the laptop is booting up or when in the BIOS, once Windows finishes booting up they quickly turn off. I've tried using 3rd party fan software to remedy the issue with no success. Neither windows or HP diagnostic tools can detect any problem.

Hi @Marcorod2k,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's not uncommon for laptop fans to only turn on during startup, as the system performs a self-check and starts up all components, including the fan, at maximum speed to ensure proper cooling. However, if your laptop fans are not turning on during normal use, there may be a problem with the fan or the system's temperature management.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Check your laptop's power settings to ensure that the fan is set to turn on at the appropriate temperature threshold. You can usually find this setting in the BIOS or UEFI firmware settings.
  • Run a system diagnostic test to ensure that all components are functioning properly, including the fan. Many laptop manufacturers provide a built-in diagnostic tool that you can access during startup.
  • Check your laptop's temperature using a monitoring tool like HWMonitor or SpeedFan. If your laptop is overheating, it could be causing the fan to malfunction or shut off.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately any diagnostics I run from the BIOS or HP's own diagnostic tools yield no errors or information to my problem. I'm beginning to think its going to be a hardware issue that's going unnoticed.
