I bought a lap top and it is very slow. I wanted to contact you since a long time ago but did not know your e-mail address. Since I bought this Lap top, it has been slow and it is very hard to use this product. It takes a long time to turn on and to connect to the internet. A friend advised me to contact you and ask for your assistance. Can you please assist me?

You can upgrade the legacy spinner hard disk to  a SATA SSD  to decrease the memory access latency and get a performance boost.

Your laptop has a Pentium processor and that means that it will always be slow compared to an Intel Core i3,i5,i7 processor.

The processor is integrated into the chipset and that means it is soldered on and not upgradeable.

Replace the OEM legacy hard disk with a  2.5-inch internal SSD • SATA 6.0Gb/s  SSD.

Any 2.5"  SATA SSD will do. I suggest purchasing one with an adapter.

You will need to create a USB cloud recovery flashdrive. You will need a 16-32GB flash drive to do that. See the link below.

Performing a clean install with the HP Cloud recovery will restore the "speed" that your laptop once had. The SSD will give it a performance boost that you will almost find incredible. Enjoy the upgrade.

Here are some compatible  2.5-inch internal SSD • SATA 6.0Gb/s products.

It was not easy finding a remove and replace video for your laptop, but I did manage to find one that applies. I recommend using a plastic tool on the enclosure, not a metal one like in the video.

Your laptop was not supported for Windows 11. That is likely to be one of the reasons that it seems "slow".  For that reason I suggest sticking with the Windows 11 that the Cloud Recovery will install.

Here is the Support Portal for your laptop series. You will also find drivers and contact information there.

Hello, thank you for your thoughtful advise.

However, I am not an expert in computers like you. I will not be able to fix it by myself because the problem seems to be with the hardware. Please assist me. This computer is very slow and I can't use it anymore. It has been slow since I bought it and I have never been able to use it as I should. Please help me. I am not able to fix it without your help. Also, I have a question. Does your company offer free replacement for defected products or free product upgrades?

Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics utility to run system and component level tests. If all of the tests pass, there is nothing wrong with your laptop.

From powering on, tap the F2 key to invoke the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics utility. Start with the long system test and then move on to components, including RAM and processor.

There does exist the possibility that you have used other laptops that are at a higher level and have expectations that your Pentium power laptop cannot possibly meet.

Use the Cloud Recovery utility to create a Windows installer.

If you felt your laptop had issues, why did you not begin a warranty repair case to resolve any issues?

If your laptop is still in warranty that is still a possibility.

Hi @josephN123456,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Laptop 15. Slow performance can be caused by various factors, but here are some general steps you can take to improve the speed of your laptop.

  • Check for Malware and Viruses: Run a full system scan using your antivirus software to ensure that your laptop is not infected with malware or viruses.
  • Free Up Disk Space: Make sure you have enough free space on your hard drive. Remove unnecessary files, applications, and temporary files to free up disk space.
  • Disable Startup Programs: Some programs automatically start when your computer boots, causing it to slow down. Disable unnecessary startup programs using the Task Manager.
  • Update Operating System and Drivers: Ensure that your operating system (Windows) and drivers are up to date. HP often releases updates that can improve performance and fix bugs.
  • Check for Background Processes: Use the Task Manager to identify and close any unnecessary background processes that might be consuming system resources.
  • Upgrade RAM: If your laptop has a small amount of RAM, consider upgrading it. More RAM can significantly improve multitasking and overall system performance.
  • Optimize Web Browser: If slow internet connection is an issue, try using a different web browser or clearing the cache and cookies of your current browser.
  • Adjust Power Settings: Make sure your power settings are optimized for performance. In the Power Options settings, choose the "High performance" plan.
  • Run Disk Cleanup: Use the built-in Disk Cleanup tool to remove unnecessary files from your hard drive.
  • Consider a Factory Reset: If the laptop is still slow after trying the above steps, you may consider performing a factory reset. Make sure to back up your important data before doing this, as it will erase everything on the laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello,

I did not know that this issue would have been covered by the warranty. My friend advised me to contact HP. I hope that it is not too late for you to assist me because it is very hard to use this computer. Did you come across similar cases that you were able to resolve? Do you think there is hope in fixing this computer?
