HI @Akshat_06,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When a laptop screen suddenly goes black and the Caps Lock key starts blinking, it usually indicates a hardware or firmware issue. The blinking Caps Lock key can be a diagnostic code that helps identify the problem. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Interpret the Blinking Caps Lock Code

Check the Pattern:

  • Count the number of times the Caps Lock key blinks and any pattern in the blinking (e.g., how many times it blinks, pauses, and then blinks again).
  • This pattern can be used to diagnose the problem.

Consult the Manual or Support:

  • Look up your laptop’s manual or the HP support website for information on what the blinking pattern signifies. HP often uses these codes to indicate specific hardware problems.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

Turn Off the Laptop:

  • Press and hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds until the laptop completely powers off.

Disconnect External Devices:

  • Unplug all external devices (USB drives, external keyboards, etc.).

Remove the Battery (if removable):

  • If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out.

Reboot:

  • With the laptop unplugged and the battery removed (if applicable), press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.

Reassemble and Power On:

  • Reinsert the battery, plug the laptop back into the power source, and turn it on.

3. Check for Display Issues

External Monitor Test:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using HDMI or VGA.
  • If the external display works, the issue might be with the laptop's screen or internal display connections.

Brightness Adjustment:

  • If the screen is very dim, try adjusting the brightness using the function keys (e.g., Fn + F4 or F5).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
